Work Camper Arrival - Helen and I are looking forward to welcoming back four of our worker campers from last year on May 1st (Bob-Jim and Bonnie and Beth) all in anticipation of your arrivals. In addition we are welcoming three new couples to help out this season and we know they will be a great addition to the Mountain View family staff as well!

December 23rd

Wolf Creek Ski Area was the scene of a fatal fall this past weekend. A rope barrier blocking the 50ft cliff was crossed by the victim resulting in his death.

You think Washington is the only place that has budget delays.

Creede Town Board discussed the water project and approved there budget one day before the deadline - At least they didn't wait until 11:30 on the day of the dead line.


The Denver Post Ovation Awards name CRT finalist - The Creede Repertory Theater has been nominated for eight 2010 Post Ovation.

DOW - Up dated county on success of early season stating not many hunters but some good bulls were taken. DOW further stated that this was an experimental season that would likely go on for three to five more years.

December 30th

CRT sweeps Reader's Choice Awards by taking top honors in all eight categories. The Denver Post readers voted CRT "Best year by a Company" for the fifth Consecutive year.

Wolf Creek Ski Area broke their attendance record during the busiest week of the year with 6,355.

Clay Mine restoration public meeting set - The mine is located just southwest of Creede along the Silver Thread Scenic Byway.

January 6th

The Snow County Explorers, Creede snowmobile had 13 sleds on there first trip up to Bristol Head on a (relatively) warm, sunny and windless day.

March 31st

Big Moose project moves forward - Implementation in stages for the next several years. "I believe this decision is the best approach to recover the commercial value of the beetle killed spruce while also jump starting a new vibrant forest" said Divide District Ranger Tom Malecek. The area in question is located 13 miles Southwest of Creede. The project will include the removal of dead and dying spruce from over 4,200 acres of forest, clear cutting 690 acres of aspen to regenerate the stands with your healthy Aspen, thinning up to 321 acres of dense forest to stimulate tree growth.

April 14th

Soward's Ranch conservation easement finalized - 1886 - When the homestead act was enacted Soward worked out a deal with his family to homestead nearly 1300 acres along the Rio Grande to start raising cattle,and horses and to spawn fish eggs and send them all over the country. The first easement of 580 acres through Wetland preserve Program and now 268 acres under conservation Rio Grande Headwaters land Trust.

April 15

Southern Colorado Transmission Improvements - State Approved Transmission System - Approximately 146 miles of new lines will be brought from the Comanche Substation near Pueblo to the San Luis Valley Substation. The new line will help develop renewable energy resources and provide affordable, reliable electricity for Valley residents and businesses.

"Input Sought on Wolf Creek Land Exchange Proposal"The proposal involves exchanging approximately 204 acres of federal land for approximately 178 acres of private land owned by Leavell-Mccombs Joint Venture. Part of the federal land proposed for exchange would connect US Hwy 160 to the private property for access to the New Wolf Creek Ski Area.
